With more than 70,000 students served each year through The Denver Center for the Performing Arts’ educational programs, we know that there are bound to be questions. Who is the on the staff at the Denver Center Theatre Academy? 
The Academy staff consists of professional Denver Center Theatre Academy teaching artists, Denver Center Theatre Company graduate students, Denver Center Theatre Company actors and professionals, and teaching assistants from local high schools and colleges. 

Where is the Academy located? 
Our classes take place in the Robert and Judi Newman Center for Theatre Education in the Historic Tramway Building at 1101 13th Street, at the corner of 13th and Arapahoe streets in downtown Denver. View map  

What is the refund policy?
If you find that you are unable to attend the Academy, you can receive a 100% tuition refund if we hear from you at least 48 hours before the first class meeting. A 75% tuition refund is available through the first day of each program. One day workshop cancellations must be made one week prior to receive a full refund. No tuition refunds are available after this time. No refunds can be made for classes that you fail to attend, regardless of the circumstances. The $5 registration fee is non-refundable.

What should my child bring with them to the Academy? 
    Students should bring:

  • All forms on the first day 
  • Lunch, two snacks and a water bottle each day for full day classes

Can my child be in the same group as his/her friend? 
When you register, please let us know and we will do our best. Please note, that we group all of our students by age, so if they are in same age group, we can put them together.  


What should my child wear? 
All students should wear comfortable clothing that allows free movement as well as shoes that stay on your feet. 


Will there be a final performance? 
There are often final performances for individual classes. Check with your child’s instructor about availability and details. 

What do we do for lunch?
All daytime programs include a 30-minute lunch period. Students must bring a lunch and are not allowed to go off campus. Microwaves and refrigeration is not available. 

Summer Only

Where do I drop off my child?
In the morning, drop off students on the west side of Arapahoe St from 8:30-9am; pull over to curb marked with Academy traffic cones. 


Where do I pick up my child?
In the afternoon, you can pick up your child on 13th street under the Arts Complex. Enter 13th Street from Arapahoe Street. Students will always be on the south side of the street in theatre loading dock area. Cars may line up on the south side to wait for students.
